Die Zeit ist reif für einen neuen Blogartikel! Meine Sehnsucht nach Südafrika hat mich dazu bewogen, eine meiner liebsten Erinnerungen an Südafrika nachzubauen: Biltong!

Ich darf vorwegnehmen: Es hat geklappt und es schmeckt vorzüglich (während ich diesen Blogartikel schreibe).

Die Zutaten:

1. 500g Rindfleisch (am besten Filet)
2. 1 TL gemahlener Pfeffer
3. 1 TL Koriandersamen
4. 10 ml Rotweinessig
5. 1 EL Zucker
6. 3 EL Salz
7. 2 g Natron

Die Zubereitung:

1. Die Koriandersamen in einer Pfanne rösten und zusammen mit Pfeffer, Zucker, Salz und Natron in einem Mörser zerstoßen.

2. Das Fleisch in ca. 3cm breite, 1 cm dicke und 20 cm lange streifen schneiden und anschließend mit Rotweinessig einreiben.

3. Das Fleisch anschließend in der Gewürzmischung wenden.

4. Nun das gewürzte Fleisch in eine Form geben und für 12 Stunden abgedeckt in den Kühlschrank stellen.

5. Anschließend das Fleisch kurz in kochendes Wasser tauchen und danach für 3-4 Tage zum trocknen an einer luftigen Stellen aufhängen.

Aufhängen: Ich habe ein Loch in das Fleisch gebohrt und jedes Stück an einer Kordel an einem Kleiderbügel aufgehangen.

Trocknen: Als luftige Stelle hat sich bei mir die Küche bei abgestelltem Fenster bewährt.

Würzmischung: Ich habe meiner Würzmischung noch Chili für eine leichte Schärfe hinzugefügt. Hier ist Kreativität gefragt.

Das Fazit:

Ich war überrascht, wie einfach das ganze funktioniert. Eine Biltong-Box braucht man entgegen der Meinung einiger Leute nicht. Das Fleisch bleibt im halb trockenen Zustand (nach 3-4 Tagen) ca. zwei Wochen lang haltbar. Vollgetrocknetes Fleisch (7 Tage) ist wesentlich länger haltbar. Ob die 2g Natron im Rezept allerdings eine bahnbrechende Bereicherung waren, bin ich mir nicht sicher. Könnten man bestimmt auch weglassen.

Nach nunmehr sieben Wochen in Deutschland kommt hier mein letzter Erfahrungsbericht.

Er gewährt Einblicke in mein Leben nach Südafrika, wie es ist, nach einem Jahr nach Hause zu kommen und warum ich auch nach sieben Wochen noch nicht sagen kann, dass ich komplett in Deutschland angekommen bin.

Heute ist mein zehnter Tag in Deutschland. Zeit für einen kleinen Rückblick.

Die zwei Tage nach meiner Landung in Frankfurt fühlten sich sehr seltsam am. Es stimmt definitiv, dass die Seele hinterher hinkt. Ich habe mich einfach wie auf einer Reise gefühlt. Als ob ich einfach in Südafrika in einen Bus gestiegen bin und 15 Stunden durch die Landschaft gefahren wäre. Es fühlte sich nicht wie Deutschland, 10.000km entfernt, an. Tag drei und vier merkte ich dann, dass ich nicht mehr in Südafrika war. Die Umwelt war zwar gewohnt wie eh und je und doch fühlte ich mich nicht besonders wohl. Ich vermisste mein Leben in Südafrika, die Umgebung und die Menschen. Während dieser Tage war Deutschland nicht mein zu Hause. Alles was mich an Südafrika erinnerte, machte mich traurig. Glücklicher Weise war ich ausreichend beschäftigt mein Leben auf den aktuellesten Stand zu bringen. Ich wusste nicht, was in Herdecke los ist oder was meine Freunde so jeden Tag machten. Inzwischen habe ich mich aber wieder an Deutschland gewöhnt und bin über alles informiert. Studium steht nun auf meinem Plan und was dann kommt? Wir werden sehen.

Wenn ich mir meine letzten Blogartikel anschaue, muss ich zugeben, werde ich etwas sentimental. Meine Zweitheimat Südafrika ist verdammt weit weg.

Gestern morgen bin ich also in Frankfurt gelandet. Der Rückflug war besser als der Hinflug. Glücklicher hatte ich eine nette Sitznachbarin, die weder beim Einschlafen auf meine Schulter genickt ist, noch mich den ganzen Flug über zugetextet hat (Grüße an dieser Stelle, falls du das liest. ). Ansonsten habe ich das Video on Demand Angebot genutzt, Schach gegen die Rückenlehne meines Vordermannes gespielt und mir aufgewärmtes Flugzeug-Fastfood zu Gemüte geführt. Zwischendurch gab es allerhand zu Trinken. Lediglich gegen 3 Uhr habe ich, wenn auch nicht fest, zwei Stunden geschlummert. Der Morgen war dann interessant. Am Flughafen wurde ich von meinen Eltern abgeholt und gemeinsam fuhren wir dann, weil es auf dem Weg lag, auf ein Frühstück zu meiner Großmutter. Gegen 12 Uhr bin ich zu Hause angekommen, wo zu meiner großen Überraschung ein kleines Empfangskomittee auf mich wartete. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich die ersten Minuten völlig neben mir stand, weil ich es einfach nicht fassen konnte, soviele gute Freunde so schnell wiederzusehen. Die Überraschung war definitv gelungen.

Und heute ist nun mein zweiter Tag in Deutschland. Ich habe gut geschlafen und bin fit für die Neuerkundung. Bis jetzt merke ich nicht viel von einem Kulturschock und ich bin beim Gedanke an Südafrika noch nicht in Tränen ausgebrochen, obwohl der Kloß im Hals nicht zu verachten war. Jedenfalls denke ich, dass es gut war, dass ich mir drei Wochen Zeit zum Verabschieden genommen habe. Ich hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass ich etwas wichtiges vergessen hätte oder das ich unbedingt etwas hätte erledigen müssen. Ich habe mich langsam von Südafrika verabschiedet und jetzt werde ich Deutschland langsam begrüßen.
